THANK YOU - UNITED FOR A PAWS - DUNCAN BC
A huge shoutout of gratitude to FLED/FLEC, an organization who’s been volunteering their time helping owners reunite with their lost pets since 1988. I had the opportunity to work with FLED in November as a volunteer when they travelled from Victoria to Duncan to help locate Tommy, a dog who was missing in my Neighbourhood. He had been spotted in my driveway on several occasions, so I agreed to let them set up a feeding station and live trap in my yard. They were so incredibly organized and their knowledge was outstanding. They showed me how to operate the trap, provided the chicken I needed to bait it, and told me to watch the trail cam closely once the trap had been set. They also advised me to keep my cat indoors until the trap had been removed from my property as a safety precaution. Unfortunately, my young daughter opened the front door and my cat bolted outside without her knowledge. He got caught in the trap and was injured during his panic to get out. When I told FLED what had happened they immediately offered to pay for any vet care he required. I declined their offer because they did everything right and the unfortunate incident was not their fault. Tommy the dog was found, and despite what had happened, the outcome was good.
So imagine my surprise today when I was told by my vet that I had a very large credit on my account. FLED had contacted them and paid the bill on my behalf. Even after I told them it was absolutely not their fault, it was our mistake, and I would cover the bill myself. That gesture solidified everything they showed me during my interaction with them. They are kind, big hearted people who really go the extra mile. I would absolutely recommend volunteering for this organization and contacting them in the event your pet goes missing.
Thank you Jill, Gary, Sharon, Cheryl, and all of the FLED - Find Lost & Escaped Dogs Vancouver Island volunteers for the work you do!
Much love!! ❤️🐶😻
