PSA - DEC. 2020 - SAY NO TO FIREWORKS
If you’re stuck at home on New Year’s and want a fun way to say farewell to 2020, you may have plans that involve fireworks. Please rethink this!
There are two massive spikes in wildlife deaths each year on July 4th and the beginning of a new year as a direct result of fireworks. Birds often get startled out of their roosts and fly into windows and traffic, causing broken necks and fatal concussions. Fireworks can also wake mammals from hibernation, causing them to burn much-needed energy to survive winter, and can be extremely distressing to pets and veterans.
If the New Year just doesn’t feel right without fireworks, please consider getting quiet ones like smoke bombs, sparklers, and Roman candles, or using confetti poppers.
